Pluto Security emerges with $42M to monitor enterprise AI tools and agent actions
Pluto Security has emerged from stealth with $42 million in announced funding to secure enterprise AI use. TechCrunch reports an $8.5 million seed round led by TLV Partners and a $34 million Series A led by Jump Capital, with Skinos and Ansa Capital participating. CEO and co-founder Shahar Bahat said the startup began selling in April and has surpassed $2 million in annual recurring revenue, serving more than 30 enterprise customers, including Oscar Health, Workato, Sixt, and AlphaSense.
The investment adds a security vendor to the enterprise AI operations market, where employee-built applications and autonomous agents broaden what security teams must monitor. Bahat said roughly 60% of risks Pluto detects across its customers involve tools vibe-coded by non-developers, with finance departments the largest source. Pluto monitors AI tools, skills, extensions, MCP servers, and the applications and agents employees create. Its approach extends security oversight from software inventory to actions taken during agent execution: the company says it can block unintended permission escalation or insert instructions asking an agent to seek confirmation. That makes runtime control a concrete buying consideration as companies adopt agentic workflows.
For builders and investors, the diligence question is whether intervention reliably contains risk while preserving useful workflows. Pluto gathers prompts, commands, processes, permissions, and prior user activity, and says lightweight endpoint models help assess agent intent. Its reported revenue demonstrates early purchasing demand; it does not establish detection accuracy or the reliability of intervention. The free Plutonium platform, offering component risk checks, an MCP scanner, and a verified-component catalog, also gives Pluto a channel for feedback and prospective customers.
