Value proposition
Healthleap screens every adult inpatient chart each night. It uses labs, vitals, weights, medications, diet orders, diagnoses and clinician notes, which language models parse, and writes a risk score into the EHR flowsheet each morning. Clinicians can then catch overlooked conditions earlier. Hospitals see more diagnoses, higher reimbursement and shorter stays, and contracts guarantee an ROI floor.
Products and solutions
Healthleap Nutrition, a daily AI malnutrition risk screening tool that is EHR-integrated clinical decision support. Delirium and toxic metabolic encephalopathy identification is also deployed. Modules for aspiration pneumonia, pressure injuries and congestive heart failure readmission risk are in validation. The earlier product, NutriLeap, was a clinical assistant app for dietitians.
Unique value
Healthleap says it is the only commercially available, peer-reviewed AI malnutrition screening tool. It reports 88% higher sensitivity than nurse screening, identifies cases 4 days earlier, and reaches 0.95 AUROC. It sits natively inside the EHR workflow upstream of CDI, and outcome-based contracts guarantee multiples of the contract price in hard ROI.
Target customer
US hospitals and health systems: CFOs, CMOs, clinical nutrition directors, registered dietitians, and CDI and coding teams.
Industries served
Healthcare providers / hospitals (inpatient care, clinical nutrition, clinical documentation improvement, revenue cycle)
Technology advantage
The platform combines LLM extraction of affirmative and negated clinical concepts from free-text notes with structured EHR data in risk models. It was validated across more than 166k admissions over 3.75 years (Bernstein et al., Applied Clinical Informatics), co-authored with Cedars-Sinai, Johns Hopkins and Stanford leaders. Contracts run three years, are priced per licensed bed, and include an ROI guarantee; the company reports every customer has seen 5x or more hard ROI.
How they differentiate
Iodine and other CDI tools work downstream on documentation. Healthleap instead sits upstream, at day-one clinical identification, and is peer-reviewed against the clinical reference standard. It combines LLM-extracted note concepts with structured data. Pricing is outcome-based with a contractual ROI floor, and it is expanding condition by condition, targeting more than 40 conditions.

Major milestones
2021: launched with the NutriLeap dietitian assistant. Some 2026 coverage cites 2022 as the founding year. Jan 2022: $1.1M pre-seed led by Fifty Years. 2025: peer-reviewed validation published in Applied Clinical Informatics. 2026: exhibited at HIMSS 2026. Jun 2026: Houston Methodist announced a system-wide rollout. Oct 2026: announced $38M combined seed ($8M, Sequoia/First Round) and Series A ($30M, Hummingbird).
Growth metrics
Deployed in more than 50 hospitals, up from 3 a year earlier. Revenue grew more than 10x year over year. Every customer has seen 5x or more hard ROI, and some exceed 20x.
