Value proposition

Reduces the time-to-market for new crop varieties by using predictive AI to identify complex genetic traits, helping the global food system adapt to climate change faster than traditional breeding methods.

Products and solutions

["Biological Knowledge Graph (Proprietary plant interactome database)","AI-Powered Trait Discovery Engine","Genomic Mapping & Predictive Modeling Suite","Climate-Resilience Trait Pipeline (Drought, heat, and pest resistance focus)"]

Unique value

Applies advanced Graph Neural Networks (GNNs)—a paradigm typically used in human drug discovery—to plant genomics, moving beyond simple linear gene analysis to map complex biological networks.

Target customer

Global seed companies, agricultural biotechnology firms, plant breeders, and large-scale agricultural producers.

Industries served

["Agriculture (AgTech)","Biotechnology","Genomics","Climate Technology"]

Technology advantage

The platform models the 'interactome' of plants, allowing for the discovery of non-obvious genetic correlations and multi-gene traits that traditional CRISPR or breeding techniques often overlook.

How they differentiate

Biographica applies Graph Machine Learning (GNNs)—a paradigm typically used in human drug discovery—to plant genomics. Unlike competitors focusing on linear gene editing, Biographica maps the 'interactome' to identify complex, non-obvious genetic correlations and multi-gene traits.

Main competitors

["Inari Agriculture","Benson Hill","Equinom"]

Key partnerships

["BASF (Strategic R&D partnership via their vegetable seed business, Nunhems)","Entrepreneur First (Foundational incubator)","Faber VC & EQT Foundation (Strategic investment partners)"]

Notable customers

["BASF (Nunhems)"]

Major milestones

["Founded in 2022 via the Entrepreneur First (EF) incubator program","Established a strategic R&D partnership with BASF’s vegetable seed business, Nunhems","Successfully closed an €8 million Seed round in January 2024 to scale AI crop discovery"]

Growth metrics

Scaling R&D operations and commercial pilot programs; team size estimated between 10-50 employees.

Market positioning

Deep-tech AgGenomics innovator focusing on the R&D discovery layer for seed companies.

Geographic focus

United Kingdom, Europe, and North America

Patents and IP

Proprietary trade secrets regarding Graph ML architectures; no specific public patent registrations disclosed as of the latest funding update.
